1997 Makino KE-55 Milling Machine

Up for sale is this 1997 Makino KE-55 CNC knee mill. This machine is in good condition and functions as it should. I have been through this machine cleaning and performing regular preventative maintenance. The oiling system has been flushed and filled, ball screws greased, belts tensioned, & machine cleaned. This unit does have the factory coolant tank and sump it is just not pictured. This is a Fanuc Professional Jn which is a 20FA controller and works great. The spindle is a 4000 RPM unit and is very smooth. This can do rigid tapping as well as helical interpolation. This mill is unique in that you can use it as a conventional machine with the hand wheels on the front or you can use the built in conversational programming in addition to loading a full CNC program. The conversational is very user friendly and handles angle milling, pockets, radius, bolt hole patterns, & more. Hardly any training is required to use it. This machine is capable of DNC (drip cnc) through the RS232 port on the control cabinet.

This mill weighs 6600 pounds and has a very stout cast iron base for maximum rigidity. All the slides are of the box way design are ground and hardened with the ways being hand scraped Turcite. Everything is automatically lubricated with a Showa oil pump. The machine is built with oversized and tensioned ball screws to prevent the effects of thermal growth. The T-slotted table is in great condition with no drill or mill marks on it.

I have all the original manuals (large stack) and even the original inspection report for this machine when it was shipped. This is a very high quality milling machine that doesn’t come up for sale often. These were very expensive when new and so they are not very common to find.

2007 Haas SL-10T CNC Lathe

Up for sale is this 2007 Haas SL-10T CNC Lathe. This is in great condition and is a one owner machine that never did production work. The paint and sheetmetal on this lathe are nearly perfect. I was told the owner passed away 5 years after purchasing and the machine sat unused since then. This is a basic machine with a 12 position turret, hydraulic 3 jaw chuck, hydraulic tailstock, auger chip conveyer and a Royal FX275 Filtermist unit. This machine will come tooled up just as you see and does include the chuck & tailstock foot pedal, chip auger, manuals, & spare inserts and tooling blocks. 1986 Deckel SOE Tool Cutter Grinder

Up for sale is this Deckel SOE precision tool cutter grinder. This is a 1986 unit and runs on 208V 3 Phase. This piece is highly optioned and comes with the cast iron base, optical comparator, collets, tooling & more.

1985 Deckel S11 Universal Cutter Grinder

Up for sale is this Michael Deckel S-11 Universal High Precision Tool & Cutter Grinder. This is a 1985 model and is in very nice condition. Everything is functioning as it should. This is made in Germany and is the finest manual cutter grinder that money can buy. These do not come up for sale often and to purchase a unit new would be over $75,000 from Deckel (now called ISOG). This grinder is equipped with the motorized universal indexing head that is a 40 taper bore. This unit has an adapter to go from 40 taper to a Deckel style collet which is currently in the head. You could mount a chuck or any other tool that has a standard 40 taper profile. Almost everything pivots and moves so the grinding possibilities are endless. I have had much of this machine apart in order to fully service and clean it and it’s in great condition. The grinder has a new drive belt and a full oil flush. All of the slides and movements are extremely smooth and many ride on precision ball bearings. The spindle speed is variable up to 7000 RPM and the rapid spindle elevation feed works great both up and down. At some point this did have the optical measuring unit but it was gone before I had a chance to buy the machine. What’s left is the DRO and mount which do power up and seem to function. I believe this unit was purchased new by General Electric and came from a shuttered plant.

Local pick up is available as well. The grinder is powered up and available to test in my shop at any time. In person Inspections are welcome.

South Bend 10L Heavy Ten Lathe

Up for sale is this Rare South Bend Heavy Ten Toolroom engine lathe (10L). This is a very late model unit and from what I can find it was made in the late 1990’s. This has all of the desirable options that everyone is looking for when buying one of these machines. This is the original color, it has not been re-painted. The machine came out of a Community College and is in nice shape. This machine is wired for 208V three phase but with a simple variable frequency drive (VFD) one could run this on 240V single phase power. The current motor is a 2 speed version with a fast and slow speed at the flip of a switch. The hardened ways on this machine are in perfect condition with no wear or dings. The machine comes with the accessories shown, one note is that the 3 jaw chuck needs a new backing plate to work with the camlock spindle, currently it has a threaded spindle mount. This machine is already on a skid and I will build a skeleton crate around it for freight shipment, please ask for a quote.

Long, 4.5′ bed length (33″ between centers)

K&T Model K 10″ Universal Dividing Head

Up for sale is this very nice K&T Model K 10″ universal spiral dividing head. Everything on this unit works great and is in really excellent condition. Very smooth. The head rotates and pivots smoothly and the fine feed dial works great. This has a 7″ Buck 4761 6 jaw chuck mounted to it which is also in excellent condition. Both the tail stock and dividing head have matching serial numbers of 21/4936. Also included is the chuck key, reverse jaws, and an additional pair of dividing plates. I have not seen another nicer one of these dividing heads and the company who owned it took great care of all their machines and accessories. Once the chuck is removed there should be a CAT50 taper but I have not taken the chuck off to confirm. This unit has a 5:1 drive ratio.

This will be palletized and shipped LTL via common carrier freight. You can have this delivered to a business address at no extra cost or you can pick up from the freight terminal. Local pick up is also welcomed.

1988 Hardinge HLV-H EM English Metric Lathe

Up for sale is this Hardinge HLV-H EM (English/Metric) Super Precision Tool Room Lathe. This is in very good condition and has never been repainted. This was ordered from the factory in Hardinge white and grey colors. I purchased this machine at auction from a closed machine shop and have done a considerable amount of work to get the machine to where it is today.

This is a late 1988 machine and it has many late model features such as hardened and ground cross slide ways, tapered Hardinge spindle, wide bed plate with teflon lined carriage, pre-drilled DRO mounting points, ball bearing carriage rack gear and more. This machine is 230V 3 Phase but it is dual voltage so it can be changed to 460V if desired.

When received, the left cross slide wear strip was delaminating from the cast iron lathe carriage (common problem) and causing unacceptable binding in the cross slide. The carriage was removed and disassembled and both wear strips were peeled off. The surfaces were prepared using factory procedures and the strips were epoxied back into place. Both the hardened wear strips and dovetail surfaces were then ground in situ. The cross slide & gib were then hand scraped and fitted to the machine. As I was doing this work I elected to have many of the carriage surfaces reground for aesthetic purposes in addition to fully cleaning the machine. The Teflon sheet on the bottom of the carriage was in good condition and so it was left untouched. The Bijur oil pump has been completely rebuilt with new o-rings, filters, and gaskets and all oil metering units, o-rings, and copper tubes have been replaced with new. New neoprene way wipers have been installed and the apron hand wheel bushings have been replaced. Both variable speed drive belts have been replaced and the V.S. countershaft bearings have been replaced as well. Lastly, the dual dial compound has been disassembled, cleaned, & lubricated. I’m sure there are other things I’m missing but that is the general overview of what I have done to this machine.

After all this work the machine is now in excellent mechanical condition and is ready to be used right away. The spindle is whisper quiet and runs great at all speeds and the power feeds work great in all speeds and directions. The machine is very clean and tight and it now looks great too. Lathe comes with pictured tooling. This has a factory installed Acu-Rite DRO as well as a factory work light. Other accessories are available such as taper attachment, follow rest, steady rest, chucks, tool post, etc.
